Plot Twist: How Strategy Flipped the Script
Tuesday, September 15, 2026, 12:30 PM - 1:15 PM CDT
What if your communications plan worked like a game board — and every smart move helped you inch closer to crushing your goals and "winning the game"?
In this interactive presentation, the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University’s communications team shares how we gamified our strategy — inspired by Marvel Avengers and the six Infinity Stones — to transform our storytelling, rebuild our newsletter and reimagine social media. Using a six-stone framework (Mind, Soul, Reality, Space, Power and Time), we aligned every tactic to institutional priorities and turned strategic planning into a repeatable, momentum-building system.
The results?
- Newsroom traffic increased 633%, growing from 6,003 to 44,026 annual visits while story production tripled.
- A reimagined newsletter grew from 0 to 4.5K subscribers in a year with a 52% open rate (nearly double the industry average).
- Social campaigns generated up to 107K views on a single post, hundreds of shares and measurable upticks in applications. Followers across platforms increased by 159% while impressions increased 1.4k%.
- Nearly 950 strategic tasks executed in one year — all aligned to unit and university goals.
This wasn’t luck. It was by design.
Attendees will leave with a practical framework for turning strategy into a game you can win — building systems that scale, content that connects and results that compouns — all while having fun.
All Stones Collected. Game changed.
By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Build a gamified strategy framework that aligns communications with institutional priorities.
- Audit and optimize content channels (newsroom, newsletter, social) for measurable impact.
- Use data to drive smarter content decisions and improve engagement.
- Design sustainable systems and workflows that scale without burnout.
- Translate strategic goals into compelling, audience-centered storytelling.
- Measure and clearly communicate results that demonstrate value to leadership.
