Rachael Eyler is an award-winning journalist currently serving as the content creator specialist for the Division of Student Affairs at Stony Brook University. With a deep connection to Seawolf Country, Rachael graduated from Stony Brook University in December 2019 with a degree in journalism and a minor in political science. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in strategic sommunications at SUNY Oswego, where she continues to explore innovative approaches to mission-driven digital communication.

In her current role, Rachael creates and manages visual materials for the Division of Student Affairs, including photos, video and other digital assets. Additionally, she leads the Division of Student Affairs' main social media channels while also overseeing the additional channels of sub-departments. Leveraging her extensive journalism background, Rachael also assists in training Student Affairs leadership in crisis communication and developing innovative strategies to address campus challenges.

Rachael's journalism career spanned local, national and international newsrooms, including MSNBC, NBC, ABC, the BBC, Metro TV in Ghana and the Wall Street Journal London Bureau. She has reported on significant events such as the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, mass shootings, the Flint water crisis, elections and various local political investigations.

Her work has earned multiple accolades, including awards from the State University of New York Council for University Advancement, the Online News Association, the Investigative Reporters and Editors Association and two Marie Colvin International Reporting Awards.

Though no longer a full-time journalist, Rachael continues to freelance in writing, video and photography. Her primary focus now is on telling the compelling stories of Stony Brook Seawolves.
