Dr. Brian Gant
Associate dean — Maryville University
Biography
Dr. Gant is a two-time alumnus of Maryville University, earning a bachelor's degree in information systems ('03), and a doctorate in higher education leadership ('21). His dissertation focused on "Cyberbullying in eSports: A Hermeneutic Phenomenological Approach to Examining Student-Athlete and Administrator Perceptions." He has also studied perceptions of diversity as well and ways to overcome it within technology fields.
Prior to joining Maryville in 2020, Dr. Gant spent 17 years with both the FBI an U.S. Secret Service as a special agent. He accepted an appointment to become a full-time assistant professor ('20) at the Simon School of Business, Maryville University where he currently serves as associate dean of technology and assistant professor of cybersecurity. He has two children, Tyler, 21 a student athlete at Northwestern University and Dawson, 14, a dancer/gymnast who attends Clayton school district.
