Description

Many universities operate within centralized website design frameworks that provide consistency, security and scalability across institutions. Marketers and IT teams at these universities have lots to consider when it comes time to redesign a site — or even start a framework of their own. Not all design frameworks are created the same, and working within, around and outside of these frameworks presents both challenges and opportunities depending on a number of factors.

This session will explore a spectrum of approaches for working within university web frameworks. We'll discuss what teams will want to keep in mind when deciding whether or not a framework works for them, highlighting key factors like brand consistency, information architecture, content strategy and accessibility, and speak with a longtime higher ed marketer from Temple University about her team's approach.

You will leave with a clearer understanding of how to leverage existing design systems, advocate for flexibility where needed and make informed decisions that support institutional and user needs.
